Viacom Revive Rugrats For Television Series at Nickelodeon + Feature Film

Hollywood just can't get enough of revivals, even in the shape of animation. The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that the popular kids animated show Rugrats is coming back!

Rugrats originally aired for 172 episodes between 1991 - 2004 and Viacom is bringing the show back for 26 episodes at cable Network Nickelodeon. This will also see the Rugrats return to the big screen, albeit in live action through a feature film with CGI characters. The TV series and movie will include new adventures with original characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica while also introducing a new world of characters.

"Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures," said Levy, chief operating officer at Viacom Media Networks and interim president at Nickelodeon. "What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”
