Batwoman TV Series Being Developed at The CW

It had been speculated ever since it was revealed she'll be debuting in the Arrow-verse crossover in December.

Now it has been confirmed that a Batwoman TV series is in the works at The CW. The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that Arrow-verse head Greg Berlanti is developing the TV show along with Caroline Dries, who will also pen the script and executive produce the series.

Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence.

Should Batwoman move to series, it would join a slate of DC series at The CW that also include Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning as Berlanti also builds a roster of DC fare on the comic book powerhouse's forthcoming DC Universe subscription digital platform. Launching in August, that platform will feature scripted originals including Titans, Doom Patrol and more.

Caroline Dries may be a familiar name to The CW viewers. She was previously show-runner on The Vampire Diaries, which ran for 9 years.
