Zayn, Janelle Monáe, Chvrches, DJ Snake & Bebe Rexha Are Our Picks For New Music Friday

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat. And on New Music Friday, we're bringing you a select choice of the freshest tracks released this week.

Where else could we possibly start but with Zayn?! He's been teasing new music for a while. Yet there's still no album date or any real solid details on it, but none of that matters because we finally have new music. Regardless of whether you like or dislike him, you can't argue that the guy knows how to make top songs and 'Let Me' is no exception. it's an easy going song, ideal for the summer days that will soon be upon us. This is sort of the 2nd video he's done with a heist feel to it following in the footsteps of Dusk Till Dawn, and this video is extremely well made with a fun little fight scene towards the songs climax, though it doesn't exactly fit with the songs lyrics.

I'm guilty of somewhat sleeping on 'Make Me Feel', so you know when Janelle Monáe releases another banger I'm not making the same mistake. Songs that explode in the chorus are my favourite thing. I love the gentle build-up as the song begins, ever so slowly building up into the chorus which blows me away. There's just something special about them and Pynk is no different. It's a kick-ass song in general, matched by an equally great video and I just love everything about this.

Another song matched by an equally brilliant video. By now DJ Snake is a name you've either heard of in passing or through listening to his music. Magenta Riddim is a beautiful song. It's my exact type of up-beat instrumental dance music. It's filled with so much joy, some truly excellent beats, interesting story and I love that this is set in India.

Every single Chvrches have released ahead of Love Is Dead's' release have been absolutely brilliant and Miracle is no exception to that. It's a beautiful ballad with a haunting chorus that I can't stop replaying. And the beat break at the songs climax? It may possibly be the best I've heard this year. Miracles is similar in nature to Pynk above, in the sense that the song begins nice and gently and then explodes into the chorus, with the only real difference apart from Artists & Genres being that Miracles keeps with the same tempo and it works wonders. My only hope for the album is that the rest of the songs keep the hype and excitement that the pre-album singles have. There is absolutely nothing worse than pre-album singles getting you hyped up, for the rest of the album to be a dud.

Finishing off this weeks New Music Friday with Bebe Rexha. I've come across the odd song from her, some grab me some don't, and Ferrari is very much once that does. It's continuing the unintentional theme of this weeks selections with songs that have a gentle build. Ferrari also has a haunting sound effect added to it, which probably wouldn't look out of place in a horror film. Ferrari is a lovely Pop ballad that showcases Bebe's vocals in a way that some of her more up tempo dance numbers possibly don't. It feels as though we're hearing a raw, more personal side to her and it's lovely. The release of Ferrari co-incides with the news that her debut album 'Expectations' is now available to pre-order
