Cher, Chainsmokers ft NIGHTMRE, Nick Jonas ft Robin Schulz & Barns Courtney Are Our New Music Friday Picks

Here at CONTROLRadioUK, we're always on the look-out for the freshest tunes be it for playlisting or you dear readers. In #NewMusicFriday we're bringing you some of the best tracks of the week.

'Side Effects' may still be burning hot on the chart and now has a lovely video to accompany it featuring Riverdale's Camila Mendes as a frustrated hotel worker, but The Chainsmokers aren't letting up. Nope, they've released another absolute banger in Save Yourself which is a team up with Nightmre which this song is anything but. Unlike the general population I'm not impartial to a bit of dubstep especially when it's done right. Save Yourself has some of the best drops I've heard in years. It's an absolute BOP musically, and when the music is this good, who is really gonna focus on the lyrics? They're very much playing the supporting role to some absolutely delicious music which is the correct choice when the music's this good.

In case you somehow missed the news, Cher has an album entirely made up of Abba covers coming out on the 28th September. She's already released Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) which was a disco BOP and now Cher's released SOS. For those that complained about Gimme Gimme Gimme not having anything new to it, SOS is the perfect response to that. It's emotional, it's fun, it sounds fresh and 28th September cannot get here fast enough.

Of late Nick Jonas has been making a lot of headline for his personal life. The musical side of things is very hit and miss for me, but when you get a song right? You absolutely get a song RIGHT! On this team-up with Robin Schulz called Right Now you've got a party anthem in the waiting. Musically it's an absolutely superb song with wonderfully infectious beats. On the lyric side of things it's a little generic in places but once again, when the music sounds this good who on earth is paying attention to the lyrics?

First we had Anne Marie getting us nostalgic for 2002 and now Barns Courtney has decided to go back a few more years from that with 99. As a 90's kid? I can say completely unbiased that the 90's were awesome and who didn't like ending 1999 with the thread of the apocalypse being upon us with the new millennium? Oh, just me? Welp! 99 Is a really easy going Pop/Rock song, with lyrics that do actually matter (and probably leaving you crying that 99 was NOT just a couple of years ago). The song builds up rather well for its climax and if you haven't heard of Barns Courtney before then this is the perfect introduction (but just because I like to be helpful you can listen to Good Thing Here)

I wasn't able to feature the song last week due to it being released on Youtube after the article was published, but Allie X has released yet another certified BOP in Science and you should totally listen to it.

You may have also heard the news that David Guetta is releasing his 7th full length studio album. You can pre-order from a number of outlets here and thank me later.

Christine and the Queens have also got another single out called La marcheuse which you can listen to here
