Taut shoegaze rock song follows press & radio acclaim
London-based, multi-national indie band Useless Cities return today with their new single 'Couldn’t Ask For More' (available on all download/streaming platforms) and a new video to accompany the track. The taut piece of gloomy indie rock is helmed by Paul Tipler (Placebo/The Horrors/Idlewild) and builds to an epic crescendo powered by post-punk guitar riffs and dream-like male/female vocals.
“Couldn’t Ask For More is about people being oblivious to the feelings of those around them, especially those who they emotionally hurt,” explains frontman Tom Argent. “It specifically focuses on a society overwhelmed by modern technology. It looks at a relationship where one is attempting to communicate with the other but is ignored because technology takes precedence.”
Since arriving fully formed in 2016, Useless Cities have been busy playing a string of live shows around London (including gigs at legendary venues The Sebright Arms, The Monarch, O2 Islington Academy, The Black Heart and The Amersham Arms) and building a fanbase for their unique take on nineties and noughties-influenced shoegaze-rock. After two EP releases so far, they’ve also picked up radio acclaim from BBC 6 Music’s Fresh Faves and rave press coverage with GigSlutz, XS Noize, Soundchip, She Makes Music and many more.
