Last Day Sect to Release New Single 'Mesmer' Featuring Jesse Smith on 30th November







Last Day Sect have announced their new single featuring Jesse Smith 'Mesmer' will be released on the 30th November.

The London-based art rock band and world class special guest musicians make 'post-synthetic’ (a hybrid of guitar and synth) music. ‘The Gothic Novel’ is a concept album with each of the songs based on a gothic themes and stories, including those by HP Lovecraft, Edgar Allen Poe and William Beckford.

The Gothic Novel features some very special guests, including several internationally acclaimed artists…

Paul Cuddeford
is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and composer with many years’ experience producing music for television and film. He is best known for his guitar playing for artists including Ian Hunter, Steve Harley, Lisa Ronson, Tom Jones, Bob Geldof, Cat Stevens and Paul Young. Paul co-wrote and co-produced Lisa Ronson’s debut album ‘Emperors of Medieval Japan’.

Tom Wilcox
was the front man of 90’s art punk band Maniac Squat finding notoriety with their 1995 ‘hit’ F**k Off (Single of the Week in Kerrang!). Tom has since produced albums for Gillian Glover and Lisa Ronson; the latter, co-produced with Paul Cuddeford, receiving a 4-star review in Mojo and widespread critical acclaim. As a songwriter Tom has provided material for many bands including Lover and Florence Sabeva.

Terry Edwards
is a renowned musician who plays (among other things) trumpet, saxophone, flugelhorn, guitar and keyboards. Terry's life of musical collaborations reads like an A-Z of alternative the rock and pop world and includes: PJ Harvey, Gallon Drunk, Siouxsie Sioux, Madness, The Blockheads, Nick Cave, Jesus and Mary Chain.

Reeves Gabrels
is an American guitarist, currently a member and touring internationally with The Cure (since summer 2012), one of Britain's best-known alternative rock bands. Gabrels is known for his long partnership with British singer David Bowie, with whom he worked regularly as guitarist, bandmate, co-writer and co-producer from 1987 to 1999. Before, during and since Gabrels has also independently pursued an active and wide-ranging international music career from bases in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and London. Since 2006, he has lived in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gabrels met David Bowie during a Bowie tour in 1987 for which Gabrels' then-wife, Sara Terry, worked as publicist. Gabrels later (1989-1993) joined forces with Bowie and the Sales brothers (drummer Hunt Sales and bass player Tony Sales) in the rock band Tin Machine. Later, Gabrels became an essential part of Bowie's nineties sound, most notably on 1. Outside (1995), Earthling (1997), and 'hours...' (1999), the latter two of which he co-produced. Gabrels and Bowie also created the soundtrack to the computer game Omikron: The Nomad Soul in 1999 for the game's French publisher. Gabrels ended his professional association with Bowie in late 1999.

Morgan Fisher
although widely known for his work with Mott The Hoople in the early to mid-70's, has had a wide and varied career. Morgan has worked and collaborated with many artists in his varied career including Queen, Yoko Ono, British Lions and Swing Out Sister. Morgan has done extensive work in solo improvisation concerts at the cutting edge arts and music club 'Superdeluxe' in Tokyo. He has also scored Japanese anime films.

Mike Garson
best known for his impressive skills as a pianist, is a respected composer and an evolving computer artist. Embracing the idea of the “Renaissance Man,” Mike continually experiments with new ways through which he can communicate his humanistic ideals and hopes for the world in which he lives. In his youth, Mike studied classical composition with Leonard Eisner of Juilliard and earned degrees in Music and Education from Brooklyn College. He also studied with Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Hal Overton, Robert Starer and Lennie Tristano. He has played with Stanley Clarke, Elvin Jones, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz and Freddie Hubbard. Mike is perhaps best known for his relationship with David Bowie, which began in late 1971. He made his mark on numerous Bowie albums and has travelled thousands of miles on Bowie tours, including his 2003-04 "A Reality Tour," Bowie's first world tour in 20 years.

Lisa Ronson
is the daughter of the legendary guitarist and songwriter Mick Ronson. Lisa was formerly vocalist in the New York band 'Secret History' before embarking on a solo career in 2014. Her solo work has brought her widespread plaudits for the imaginative song writing and the juxtaposition of synthetic and organic themes in her sound.

Mauno Paajanan is a Finnish singer-songwriter. Paajanen's recording career started in 1976 when joined the Claudie band to record three pieces for the Fireball. In the following year, Paajanen recorded his first solo tracks "80 letta / Poste Restante". A year later he released his second album, Psyko, with the Silver Blue label. After this, Paajanen released a single "Upstairs Psycho / Hait Girls Eating" in the 1980's. In 1986, the Cactus label released a bit of a surprising Paajanen collection album, Genuine Finnish ranskatar, containing recordings from two released albums as well as singles "Hait Girls Eat". The next release of Paajanen was in 2003, with the song "Black Moon". A couple of years later a "Blind Man Rose" came out. In October 2007, Paajanen released a newer EP, Enkelit hei, and a double collection Psyko - All records from 1977-1980. Pedro Hietanen was released in September 2008. The new album is called "The Woman Loses", released in June 2010. Paajanen has spoken and composed songs for the following artists: Maria Hänninen, Tarja Merivirta, Esa Saarinen, Karl Sinkkonen, Riki Sorsa, Clifters, Outi Popp and Tin Janine.

Jesse Smith is a singer, songwriter and musician from Reading, UK.
Since it's inception in 2015, Jesse has been the front man for Gutterdämmerung, an audio-visual movie/live gig concept created by Bjorn Tagemose. The movie features rock legends such as Iggy Pop, Lemmy, Slash, Josh Homme, Henry Rollins, Grace Jones, Mark Lanegan, Tom Araya, Jesse Hughes, Volbeat, Nina Hagen and Justice. He has performed in hundreds of live shows across the UK and Europe including venues such as the Olympic Stadium Munich, Wembley Arena, Isle of Wight Festival, Download Festival, Hellfest, Copenhell, Rock Werchter, Indigo2, The Royal Albert Hall, LanXESS Arena, O2 Forum, Shepherds Bush Empire and many more.

Florence Sabeva is a London based keyboard player, a singer-songwriter and pianist with classical background. She’s a versatile musician who has played alongside rock royalty and some of the best musicians in the business including Earl Slick – guitarist for David Bowie, Bernard Fowler – vocalist for the Rolling Stones, Steve Norman – member of Spandau Ballet, Kevin Armstrong – guitarist for Iggy Pop and classical crossover singer Laura Wright. As a keyboard player, Flo often works around Europe with tribute bands like Beatles By Girls, QueenBeats
and many others. She studied at Berklee College of Music, Boston (composition/pop music performance) and at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Ghent & Brussels, Belgium, where she graduated in classical piano, chamber music and pedagogy.

Ed Sykes’ last band before going solo in 2017 was Colchester-based So-Called Humans. Over the years his work within bands has gained favourable reviews from John Earl (9/10 Single review) and he has appeared on a John Peel Radio show playing 4 track demos. Damon Albarn recommended a self-produced white label EP to an equally impressed Parlophone Records. More recently, Ed has become equally recognised for his production skills. He has produced founding Pink Fairy member Twink’s 2018 album Think Pink III. Ed also has writing credits on the album, which is currently receiving rave reviews. Ed Sykes’ debut solo songle ‘Whiplashed’ was released in 2018.

Gillian Glover sang Bargain Basement on her father’s 2002 solo album, Snapshot. The first studio session that would spawn Gillian’s debut solo album, Red Handed, took place in 2005. The album was completed and released in 2006 and in France in 2007. He second solo album D

Maija SirĂ©n is a Finnish choral singer who formed the cult East London band Weisskapelle in the late 2000’s.
