Supergirl kicks off another DC Superhero week on The CW at 8pm. It's kind of bizarre to think that the show was once on CBS and burst onto the scene with 12 million viewers, which has since dwindled down to an audience of about 1 and a half million. Spoiler set photos made their way into the public domain last week, which combined with previous leaked spoilers could mean we have an extremely interesting finale and 4th season on our hands. SUPERGIRL

SUPERGIRL TAKES ON ALL THREE WORLDKILLERS – Still reeling after learning about Lena’s (Katie McGrath) secret, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) asks Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) for a favor that could alter his relationship with Lena forever. Meanwhile, with all three Worldkillers united, Supergirl and the team brace for an epic battle. Caitlin Parrish & Erica Weiss directed the episode with story by Jessica Queller and teleplay by Caitlin Parrish & Derek Simon (#317). Original airdate 5/7/2018.
Following on at 9pm is of course the excellent iZombie. We're very much into the latter stages of the season now, and it has been absolutely superb. The writers do seem to have learnt from the mistakes of season 3 which didn't exactly set the world alight, and one can only hope The CW will give them a mercy renewal because this show is too good to not be on air. IZOMBIE

RICO COLANTONI (“VERONICA MARS”) DIRECTS THE EPISODE — When Liv (Rose McIver) consumes the brain of a vice detective who doesn’t play by the rules, her newfound recklessness gets her into trouble. Meanwhile, Major (Robert Buckley) is coming really close to discovering Liv’s secret. Rahul Kohli, Malcolm Goodwin, David Anders, Aly Michalka and Robert Knepper also star. Rico Colantoni directed the episode written by Chelsea Catalanotto (#410). Original airdate 5/7/2018.
Away from The CW, and Lucifer continues its 3rd season at 8pm on Fox. I feel like it's a point I bring up every week when mentioning this show in the picks, but with Upfronts very much upon us it does bear repeating; the show is very much on the bubble. Season 3 has in places been a massive disappointment. The ratings just keep slipping and one can only hope they don't get to the point where it's impossible for Fox to renew. The show has an extremely passionate and loyal fanbase who deserve a heck of a lot more than what they've been forced to watch at points this season.
When Lucifer and Chloe investigate a woman's death, they discover that they may be pursuing the wrong suspect; Charlotte risks her safety when she decides to take matters into her own hands; Lucifer gets a tragic phone call that changes everything.
Another show constantly on the bubble (and massively underappreciated by its Network) is Elementary. Given the 6th season has only just returned to our screens, it may be one of the shows whose renewal fate goes right down to the wire. It is a mighty fine show though with two excellent leads, and you can take in the promo below and catch this at 10pm.
Watson and her half sister have conflicting reactions when their estranged father dies; Holmes and Watson hunt for a stolen plutonium shipment they fear will be used to make a dirty bomb.
Finishing tonight's picks with the only UK selection in Coronation Street. I really do wish I could feature more UK shows in these picks for what to watch, but the sad truth is British TV is not that great. New shows from the likes of BBC 1, ITV and Channel 4 only come out maybe twice a year and in extremely small doses. It's impossible not to know why Coronation Street is the talk of the town this week. Tonight's episodes are Aidan Connor's final ones as he will tragically be committing suicide. None of the suicide will be shown on screen, just the build-up and of course Johnny going to his son's flat and discovering what he's done. It's going to make for extremely difficult viewing. I will indeed be returning to my review duties this week having missed Fridays episode, and be offering my thoughts on the storyline.
