CONTROLRadioUK Picks 5 Songs You May Not Have Heard Of

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat so check out our picks below.

There was some opposition to featuring this song here (translation; it only made the picks because the other offerings this week were deemed even worse) but I really like this song. It has been 3 very long years since Foo Fighters last released an album, but they are very much back. 'The Sky Is A Neighborhood' is far more serious than 'Run' was but still completely welcome. The lyrics and visual content are completely open to interpretation, which is art at its best - making you think and keeping you on your toes. The song starts off ominously enough with the backing vocals and light guitar, which leads into the main verse led by the great double act which is the guitar and drums. The chorus is simple enough, but still enough to take the roof off the house. 'Concrete and Gold' is out on the 15th September. True rock anthems have been missing from music for quite a while now, and I can't wait to see what else the Foo Fighters have up their sleeves.

What can I say about Molly Kate Kestner that I haven't said before? She's got a great voice and hand at writing songs. 'Compromise' is another fantastic unapologetic anthem. That's it, that's all I got.

Is this partially here because of my love for One Tree Hill? Yes, but it's also a really good song. Country music is not usually my cup of tea. And by not usually I mean I can't normally stand it. No offense to Country music I was just brought up on Pop/Rock and don't like change. I've listened to some of Jana Kramer's music before and really enjoyed it, but alas CONTROLRadioUK HQ hasn't. This is a rare occasion we're on the same page & I'm thankful, because as said this is a good song. Many Artists over the years have written songs comparing a difficult relationship to substance abuse. It's never a comparison that's welcomed, but is as close to effect as you'll get. This song starts out as a nice Country ballad and goes up with a brilliant chorus and the songs climax is quite wonderful. It actually reminds me a bit of Carrie Underwood's 'Before He Cheats' which is another superb Country song. Jana Kramer is an American Country singer.

This song is just magnificent. The build up in the music, mix of different musical genres, the backing chorus, and the way everything comes together so perfectly for the songs climax? It's absolutely brilliant and my favorite song of the week. The lyric video is an interesting angle to go with, and there's basically no questioning Jared Leto's songwriting abilities. Thirty Seconds To Mars started work on the new album back in 2015, and hopefully it will be released at some point this year, along with some more singles.

Another brilliant song and video from Hurts. They're not afraid to think outside the box which I like, and the music is fantastic. I'm completely in love with the drop beat before the chorus, it's an absolute work of wonder. The video is well acted, directed and choreographed and perfectly matches the tone of the song. Hurts are an English synth pop duo and the album 'Desire' is released on the 29th September.
