Glen Matlock Releases New Single 'Sexy Beast' + UK Tour Dates

Glen Matlock is one of rock’s most iconic figures as a founding member & songwriter for the Sex Pistols; a brilliant bass player, raconteur extraordinaire and all -around musical legend.

What’s already been an action-packed 12 months for Matlock, that’s seen him join US Celtic punks Dropkick Murphys on their sold-out European tour, be the first UK musician to perform in South Korea’s demilitarized zone (attracting much attention from the media including BBC News & Rolling Stone Magazine) and a tour of South America early this year, his new single Sexy Beast, taken from the latest album Good To Go, gets a release this spring alongside a string of UK-wide live dates in which he’ll be accompanied by legendary Bowie and Lennon guitarist Earl Slick as part of his band.

Sexy Beast was recorded by Grammy Award winning producer / engineer Mario McNulty(Bowie, Prince) in up-state New York’s Rhinebeck Clubhouse Studios and also features Earl Slick on guitar, as well as Jim Loweon bass and Slim Jim Phantom from US rockabilly band Stray Catson drums. The record’s straight out the blocks having already been picked for Powerplay on Italy’s Virgin Radio and featuring in the recent Nick Moorcroft film Fisherman’s Friends out this Spring.

With its straight-ahead and no frills rock ‘n’ roll feel, Matlock says of the release that “some songs are about world peace, some are about one love and this one’s about three and a half minutes”.

Firmly placed in the upper echelon of rock ‘n’ roll history for his part in the Sex Pistol’s short but meteoric rise to fame, Glen & company were the voice of a generation. Through songs such as Pretty Vacant & God Save the Queen, they influenced & changed not just music itself, but British culture, as we know it.

Yet his time with the Pistols only serves as a reminder that it’s only a fraction of his legacy.Glen was a founder member of new wave / power pop act the Rich Kids – featuring future Ultravox members Midge Ure & Rusty Egan plus The Clash’s Mick Jones – before going on to tour & record with Iggy Pop. As a further mark to how prolific his career has been to date, Glen put out an acclaimed solo record on Creation Records (the home of Oasis) with his band The Philistines, all whilst being headhunted to tour & record with the Faces, Wendy James, Viv Albertine& others.

With the upcoming UK tour (as well as dates set for Sweden, Japan and a full tour of the States later this year) there’ll be opportunity a plenty for punk, blues and rock fans around the world to catch the man himself live. Please visit his website for more details.
