Runabay to Release New Single 'Dig' on Friday + Debut Album Details

Following widespread media acclaim in Ireland and Northern Ireland, and the BBC 6Music seal of approval from Steve Lamacq, indie-folk band Runabay are back today with their new single Dig. It’s not only a masterful new song but a fitting introduction to the band’s debut and much anticipated album Between The Lines, out on 24 May 2019.

Watch the stunning new video, with an intro from acclaimed Irish beat poet Stephen James Smith and filmed in NYC below.

“Dig captures a moment in time and recounts a typical Irish school experience full of mischief, truancy, wonder and adventure,” explains Runabay vocalist and guitarist John McManus. “The track was inspired by the manner in which teachers strived to extract information about misdemeanours. It’s a track filled with nostalgia in a wholly Irish societal setting.”

Following previous singles which earned a stream of national radio plays and gained the accolade of ‘Play Irish Artist of the Week’ twice on Today FM, the band offer up something moving, timeless and exceptional in Dig.A lush soundscape, accompanied by the talents of the Arco String Quartet (who have featured on albums for Foy Vance), and a driving, cinematic intensity power the new song to new heights and skilfully blend earthy folk and soaring indie-rock.

Runabay have been championed by Steve Lamacq & Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music), Ralph McLean (BBC Radio Ulster) and have also gained plenty of other accolades - including being selected as part of the legendary Whelan’s ‘Ones To Watch’ earlier this year and being nominated for ‘Irish Single of the Year’ in 2015. They’ve also had a string of glowing press features from tastemakers Hot Press Magazine, ChordBlossom and Culture Hub NI.
