Church of Tree’s new release "The Dark & The Light", (dropped September 28) features six new vocalists, as well as a brave new sound that bandleader Bernard Frazer reveals is still very much synth-pop, but edgier.
The latest single Scream in Silence features Ottawa's Tara Holloway and is a visceral response to the hate/fear-mongering instigated by the current American president and his followers.
Currently working on a video for this single, Frazer says the mood and concept will closely follow the video for Like Gary Numan by showing President Trump for what he truly is, the world's most dangerous fool.
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Skylark Park with musical wunderkind Jordon Zadorozny (Courtney Love, Lindsey Buckingham, Sam Roberts Band), the album and single have been in the works since 2017, when Church of Trees founder, Bernard Frazer decided to invite multiple female vocalists to the project. "There were so many female singers I wanted to work with, and it opened the doors to so many wonderful possibilities. It made sense to turn this album into a "featuring" project, a celebration of great Canadian vocalists."
