Hello and welcome to the next Chapter in our Throwback Thursday series. We've travelled through 80's Pop/Rock/RnB/Reggae/Dance. Now we're having a stop-over in the 90's. It was a glorious 10 years for fashion, technology & of course music. Some songs changed the landscape of music forever whilst some were unfortunate one-hit wonders. For the next 8 weeks we'll be bringing you 5 great songs & you can drop us a few of your favorites in the comment below.

The Song: Jump Around
Released: 1992
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: Who doesn't know this song? It reached #8 on the UK Charts, #3 on Billboard and was certified Gold in the UK & used in various moves and TV shows over the years. The song samples a wide range of music, most notably the squealing tenor saxophone at the beginning of almost every bar. It's regarded as being a club classic and as soon as the song starts, you jump!

The Song: We Got A Love Thang

CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: This song reached #6 in the UK and #20. It probably isn't as recognisable as other songs from 1992, but I absolutely love it. The song is so funky and feel good which the music video emphasizes.
The Artist: 4 Non Blondes
The Song: Dear Mr. President
Released: 1992
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: Like Ace Of Base & Steps, the 4 Non Blondes are a group you're going to see dominate our 90's journey. 4 Non Blondes were finding it hard to get airplay in places & the song was written in protest of the hierarchy of power and Government. Again, the video does a great job of emphasizing that message and I also love the guitars and drums at the end of the song.

The Song: Rhythm Is A Dancer
Released: 1992
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: This reached #1 on the UK Chart and #5 on Billboard. It is not hard to see why. If you had a party at school during the 90's, it was a guarantee that this song was played. Continuing on from the late 80's, the early 90's was very much known for its Synth Pop and Disco Beats. I'm not a massive fan of the rap in the middle, but the music's strong enough for it to not ruin the song so I'll let it slide.

The Song: My Lovin (You're Never Gonna Get it)
Released: 1992
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: This song reached #4 on the UK Chart and #2 on Billboard. Another trend of the 90's? Songs that had strong implyment of adult/extra curriculum nature, that innocent ears didn't realize the true nature of until years later (another example of this is 'Don't Marry Her have Me' which I will be featuring here). The song went Gold which isn't surprising because of the soulful music & the fact the chorus is very catchy. It's also got a nice 60's sample in it and I love the breakdown at the end.
