New Music Friday

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat. And on New Music Friday, we're bringing you a select choice of the freshest tracks released this week.

I really like Delta Goodrem. She's an extremely versatile singer able to sing multi genres, and isn't afraid to take risks. This is a really fun song, with a mighty fine beat and is perfect for the weekend party playlists.

This is another fantastic song from Krewella. They really can do no wrong and the drop in the chorus is fabulous.

Injecting a bit of rock into your New Music Friday with this excellent song from Moose Blood. From the moment I pressed play I had a feeling I was going to love this & it didn't disappoint. Moose Blood aren't a band I've heard of before, but you can be sure I'll be checking the rest of their catalogue.

This song unfortunately can't be embedded but you can check out the English version of 'Candy' from Faky here. It's infectious from the start and is an absolutely fantastic song. Faky are the first Japanese girl group to be signed in the UK and release in full English. If they carry on releasing hits like this, it won't be long before they're taking over the charts.

Muse are very much a hit or miss with me. When I first pressed play on Thought Contagion I wasn't over enthused by it, but it's grown on me with the multiple listens. Definitely one of those songs that'd probably sound amazing live in a stadium.

Disney Unveils Streaming Service

The Disney streaming service is beginning to crystallize, and Deadline can provide some details of the initial slate. The studio has been conducting meetings within the creative community to give a sense of its new OTT service that will launch in fall 2019. Perhaps not surprisingly at this point, there was no mention of how the assets of 21st Century Fox will fit into the new service.

A team of Disney creative executives are doing the barnstorming, headed by OTT programming chief Agnes Chu. Chu’s experience includes working for ABC creating original content for digital platforms, working for Bob Iger during the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort and the relaunch of the Star Wars franchise, and most recently in franchise development at Walt Disney Imagineering. She’s surrounded by a team of execs that include Sean Bailey (expected to head up all Disney live-action family film), Tendo Nagendo (expected to slide into Bailey’s current post), Sam Dickerman and Louie Provost.

Here’s how it will work. The OTT platform, whose price point wasn’t mentioned, will start with a domestic service only, and then expand overseas. There will be no R-rated films, and the programming will be consistent with the Disney brand. The R-rated stuff will go on Hulu. The plan now is to leave the various Marvel series where they are, which means Netflix will hang onto its superhero inventory.

Once Upon A Time To End After 7 Seasons

ABC is closing the book on Once Upon a Time.

The broadcast network has decided that the current seventh season of the Disney fairy tale drama will be its last.

“When we first heard Adam and Eddy’s pitch for Once Upon a Time, we knew it was something incredibly special. For seven years, they have captivated us with their creativity and passion while re-imagining some of our most beloved Disney fairytales, creating an undeniable global hit. Saying goodbye will be bittersweet, but Once Upon a Time will forever be part of the ABC legacy and we can’t wait for fans to join us in this epic final chapter," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement.

New Music Friday

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat. And on New Music Friday, we're bringing you a select choice of the freshest tracks released this week.

Chvrches are back! And not just with a single, but a brand new album 'Love is Dead' which is due to be released at some point this year. For a comeback song of sorts after a 3 year wait for new music, 'Get Out' is a pretty neat track. The chorus will certainly be stuck in your head instantly, and I can't wait to see what else the album has to offer.

Put simply? This track is fantastic. I was extremely hesitant when I clicked play, but came away absolutely loving it. Perfect for the Friday night party and Monday morning work-out playlist, 'Azukita' will have you on your feet.

Back in 2013, Vance Joy came onto the scene with 'Riptide' which is still one of the weirdest, most mesmerizing videos I've ever watched. Whilst most over the years have been swallowed up by the 'one hit wonder' tag, Vance Joy just keeps delivering gems. 'Saturday Sun' has a really lovely summery feel to it, and you can't help but love this track.

Don Broco have been around since 2012, which in music terms is basically a decade. This though is my first time coming across them and they're amazing. Their album 'Technology' is out now and I would strongly advise giving it a listen.
