'English Weather' Is CONTROLRadioUK's Video of The Week

There is a reason why Fick As Fieves have been championed by the BBC and currently featured on Spotify's 'HOT NEW BANDS' playlist. That reason is they're awesome.

They've had a busy year playing at gigs and festivals along with the likes of 'Slaves', 'Redfaces', 'Madness' and 'Seastick Steve' and their latest single 'English Weather' is fantastic. It's contemporary rock with the undertones of a 70's vibe, the video is fun and so is the song.

Their sound reminds me a lot of the Artic Monkeys where they first came out, and they could very much be a band to look out for in 2018. it is very much right to describe them as an energetic Indie-rock trio because 'English Weather' is bursting with energy, and most importantly positivity.

We're all very much aware of the fraught position the world is in at the moment, and whilst I do admire Artists who use their platform to speak up for the cause, we also need Artists like Fick As Fieves to provide a welcome relief from troubles. 'English Weather' is very much that relief and having listened to it over 10 times, I can happily report this song only gets better with every listen.

2017 has seen them release a series of singles, which have generated thousands of views and streams across the platform, and I challenge anyone to listen to their music and question why. The only answer you will find is in your dancing shoes.

CONTROLRadioUK is extremely proud to not only count Fick As Fieves as one of the many Artists we playlist, but also feature them as our song of the week and do not be surprised to see them ruling our charts very soon!

CONTROLRadioUK Picks 5 Songs You May Not Have Heard Of

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat so check out our picks below.

OK I know this article is a good few days late which I entirely blame on illness, but this is still a pretty neat track. A pattern has been developing in the relationship focused songs that have been featuring in these picks. It's completely accidental, but a breath of fresh air on the genre. Songs about the heartbreak and devastation of a relationship going south are obviously always going to invest, and they're a great comfort along with the tub of ice cream. But realizing there are problems in a relationship & asking your partner to be head on and real over them, and being able to see that one person is more invested in a relationship than the other is a really good avenue to explore. It's songwriting at its most truthful, brutal and bravest, since these are very difficult, and one might even say vulnerable, subjects to write about and this song is absolutely beautiful. Phoebe Ryan is an American singer/songwriter, and you can download and stream 'Be Real' now.

You may be thinking that Maty Noyes is a familiar name, and you'd be absolutely right since she gave us the superb 'In My Mind', which hasn't left my playlist since release. Dare I say that 'Say It To My Face' is even better? Because it is and I didn't think that possible. When Artists such as Maty Noyes come along and give us such fantastic songs at a relatively young age for a musician (most don't start to peak until their mid-20's) you stand up and take notice. Musically this song is a breath of fresh air from the EDM tropical beat ridden nuisances that are currently ruling the chart. Lyrically this has a lot of depth in providing a catchy chorus that will get stuck in your head, whilst the song avoids getting repetitive after a few listens. Having an undercurrent of an 80's electro vibe will also do you a world of favors. The only critic I could really give is this song only being 2:51 seconds long, but sometimes it's better to be 'short' by usual standards than bring down the song with filler.

Never did I think I'd ever willingly listen to a Rebecca Black song, let alone feature her in 5 Picks but this song is an absolute bop. To be honest I think she was given an extremely rough ride with the 'Friday' backlash. 'Heart Full of Scars' is extremely self aware whilst also being really fun, and being accompanied by fantastic music. It's a song that everyone in some way or another will be able to relate to, and again for someone so young, it is an extremely impressive song to come up with.

I don't have much to say about this except I love MUNA, am praying to the stars I get to see them next month, and every time a new MUNA song comes out, it is impossible for me to ignore and not feature it here. This song is great just like every song they make and the video is really cute and fun.

I've featured a number of Lights songs here now, and that's because she's an excellent singer/songwriter/actor, which she's showing off in bundles here. She mixes different genres of music together so effortlessly, and her songs are so deep and yet so enjoyable to listen to. Skin&Earth is out tomorrow and you can also get the comic here. It directly ties in with the album, which if you've listened or watched the videos for the other singles is very much obvious, but I think it's a really cool thing for fans to dig in to.

5 Songs From CONTROLRadioUK Artists

You've seen our Throwback Thursdays and 5 picks of songs we think are pretty neat from non CONTROLRadioUK Artists. Well in this brand new feature, we're bring you 5 songs from CONTROLRadioUK Artists. These songs were chosen by our CEO/Director Trisha Benjamin, so without further ado!

I've been on a roll with Country songs recently, and I don't hate it. Accompanied by a nice video, this is a great song with a lot of heart. It's also more of the Country/Pop variety than straight up Country & has a chorus that'll get stuck in your head after a few listens.

Seriously Country music is me right now! This isn't as up tempo as 'Catch Me', but it's nonetheless a great song, probably bordering Country/Rock and the video fits the song perfectly.

Not to be confused with Coldplay, this song is fantastic. Combines about 3 different genres and I just love it. Meaningful lyrics, good video & a song that actually goes somewhere. It is seriously not much to ask.

Unless I'm mistaken & I'm not often, this song has featured on the CONTROLRadioUK Charts, so you guys like this song just as much as we do. It's a lovely moody number that'd sit perfectly in the mainstream charts, great lyrics, the climax of this song gets me every time & Grace Monroe has a fantastic voice.

Another moody number to finish this weeks edition, and I wouldn't blame you for mistaking this for a Muse track because I did. The video is hauntingly beautiful and I love the way this song starts out as a very moody type of ballad, and then steps it up a notch in the chorus. Oh and that guitar string is probably gonna haunt my dreams for the next week.

CONTROLRadioUK Picks 5 Songs You May Not Have Heard Of

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat so check out our picks below.

This video really isn't much, but this is a great track with a lovely drop in the chorus making up for the lack of lyrics. I can't really describe what genre this falls into, I'm just glad it's not EDM. Ashe is very much an up and coming singer/songwriting, but if 'Used To It' is any indication, she has the potential to be huge.

I'm not sure if it was the intention, but those individual shots look like something straight out of a clothing commercial. Apart from that I am admiring the beautiful scenery because I am a sucker for it, and this song is good enough. It's nothing too complicated lyrics wise, just a nice feel good track you can dance the night away to.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to feature the new Foo Fighters track here as well, but basically we're blessed Green day & Foo Fighters are releasing music at the same time. Yes this song comes from 'Revolution Radio' that was out last year, but this is still a new single, so the sentiment totally counts. This song is typical Green day, though the beginning may make you think your headphones are up the spout (this is becoming a bit of a habit with songs lately & I don't hate it). 'Too Dumb to Die' is thought provoking lyrically, with that Green Day sound we all know and love & the lyric video fits the tone of the song perfectly.

KELLY CLARKSON IS BACK. I know she last released an album 2 years ago, but any time an Artist such as Kelly Clarkson releases new music it is a big deal! She has got such a fantastic voice and this song is brilliant. Has a minor sample at the beginning of the chorus I can't quite place, and I love when Artists give the backing dancers/singers presence in videos instead of just being background noise.

I'm gonna be honest this doesn't blow me away at all, and is only here because music had a bit of a slow week in terms of offerings. The music is OK but riddled with that summery EDM beat I have grown to hate. But the collaborative effort transforms a mundane song into something enjoyable. Hailee Steinfeld is more than proving her musical credentials, the only thing I would want in future is for her to try a different type of music.

CONTROLRadioUK Picks 5 Songs You May Not Have Heard Of

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat so check out our picks below.

There was some opposition to featuring this song here (translation; it only made the picks because the other offerings this week were deemed even worse) but I really like this song. It has been 3 very long years since Foo Fighters last released an album, but they are very much back. 'The Sky Is A Neighborhood' is far more serious than 'Run' was but still completely welcome. The lyrics and visual content are completely open to interpretation, which is art at its best - making you think and keeping you on your toes. The song starts off ominously enough with the backing vocals and light guitar, which leads into the main verse led by the great double act which is the guitar and drums. The chorus is simple enough, but still enough to take the roof off the house. 'Concrete and Gold' is out on the 15th September. True rock anthems have been missing from music for quite a while now, and I can't wait to see what else the Foo Fighters have up their sleeves.

What can I say about Molly Kate Kestner that I haven't said before? She's got a great voice and hand at writing songs. 'Compromise' is another fantastic unapologetic anthem. That's it, that's all I got.

Is this partially here because of my love for One Tree Hill? Yes, but it's also a really good song. Country music is not usually my cup of tea. And by not usually I mean I can't normally stand it. No offense to Country music I was just brought up on Pop/Rock and don't like change. I've listened to some of Jana Kramer's music before and really enjoyed it, but alas CONTROLRadioUK HQ hasn't. This is a rare occasion we're on the same page & I'm thankful, because as said this is a good song. Many Artists over the years have written songs comparing a difficult relationship to substance abuse. It's never a comparison that's welcomed, but is as close to effect as you'll get. This song starts out as a nice Country ballad and goes up with a brilliant chorus and the songs climax is quite wonderful. It actually reminds me a bit of Carrie Underwood's 'Before He Cheats' which is another superb Country song. Jana Kramer is an American Country singer.

This song is just magnificent. The build up in the music, mix of different musical genres, the backing chorus, and the way everything comes together so perfectly for the songs climax? It's absolutely brilliant and my favorite song of the week. The lyric video is an interesting angle to go with, and there's basically no questioning Jared Leto's songwriting abilities. Thirty Seconds To Mars started work on the new album back in 2015, and hopefully it will be released at some point this year, along with some more singles.

Another brilliant song and video from Hurts. They're not afraid to think outside the box which I like, and the music is fantastic. I'm completely in love with the drop beat before the chorus, it's an absolute work of wonder. The video is well acted, directed and choreographed and perfectly matches the tone of the song. Hurts are an English synth pop duo and the album 'Desire' is released on the 29th September.

This is a JAM! My perfect type of Country/Rock and you can be damn sure I am breaking the replay button. The video is also extremely colourful as well, with some gorgeous scenery. You can check out Elles Bailey's music on Spotify and her official website

We've featured DEVILFIRE here before, and this is another banger. This is such a beautiful song with an even more amazing video. Which, you know, I would say since this song warms my Rock & Roll heart. You can join me in listening to DEVILFIRE on

This song is just gold, and don't be surprised if you see it ruling the CONTROLRadioUK Charts very soon. It's accompanied by a very cool video, but really I'm in love with this song. The chorus is just excellent with the way it incorporates 4 different musical genres. Lyrically this song might apply the standard rhyming couplet in places, but the way Mara Duke mixes it up with the music makes it sound unique.

I can't resist a ballad, especially when it's this soft and good. What a lot of people don't realize is you don't need power vocals that knock out the windows for a ballad to be powerful. Sometimes you just need a simple video that lets the song speak for itself, and heartfelt lyrics.

Not to be confused with The Chainsmokers 'Closer' (I still can't understand that songs popularity), this is a nice number from Hash. He's got a really great voice and is able to emote the message of the song well in the middle. The song is a nice mix of acoustic RNB which I am always here for, with some good lyrics, and has a beat that will probably end up stuck in your head (or is that just me).
