CONTROLRadioUK Picks 5 Songs You May Not Have Heard Of

Here at CONTROLRadioUK we're always on the look-out for music be it for the playlist, or just because we think the tracks are pretty neat. Check out our picks below and feel free to leave a comment on your top songs.

This video is awesome. Paired with an awesome song and you've got yourself an awesome sandwich, so how can you go wrong? It's seriously a fantastic visual I don't want to look away from for a second. Obviously Coldplay are a band you've heard of but if you haven't watched the video yet, you're missing an absolute treat. Coldplay are a British band that was formed in 1996. I've been a fan for many years and every album they somehow manage to top their previous work.

I walked into my living room to discover my cat had once again changed the channel and this was on the TV. I immediately knew it was The Last Shadow Puppets. I haven't listened to many of their songs because it's not my type of music, but the video grabbed me with its simplicty and humor (I cannot get over the dancing). The Last Shadow Puppets are a British group formed in 2007.

Many will recognise Grace from her cover of 'You Don't Own Me' that was playing in an ad over Christmas. I got bored of it and the rap added in very quickly, finding the original to be a far superior version. But you shouldn't write people off too soon, one song does not neccesarily define their whole sound and Grace proves that here. I love storytelling so music videos which actually match the lyrics of the song are a big plus with me, and the sound is reminiscent of the 50's/60's. Grace is an Australian singer/songwriter from Brisbane.

Sometimes videos will be on the TV and you'll immediately switch the channel. Sometimes videos will be on that look slightly interesting so you keep them on for a few seconds, which turns into 4 minutes and you walk away thinking 'That sounded pretty good'. M.O are an example of that. The undertone beats are somewhat tribal, reminding me of carnival. The lyrics aren't the greatest but the video's fun and so is the song on a whole. As long as I can enjoy it on some level, can't really complain too much. M.O are a British female trio formed in late 2012.

This video is one that like Coldplay, I could watch all day because it is beautiful. Again you can't go wrong with a video that matches the lyrics. The sound is a mixture of folk/indie/pop and I do love when different genre's are brought together. Sara Hartman is an American from New York.

Ok so this is basically awesome and ever so dreamy. Allie X is a Canadian singer/songwriter from Ontario. We came across this song from as always, looking for something else and immediately adored it. I love the lyrics (which on first take I mistook as too much to drink and thought hey! this is interesting), I love the beats and it's just such a chill song which I'm always on the look-out for as the season changes.

This is basically just a really neat song

Ok so as soon as this song hit the web last week, it was going on this list. Been impatiently waiting and wearing out Nature since 2013, waiting for these guys to bring out new material. OneRepublic are an American pop rock band formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There is not one thing about this band to dislike. As if the songs weren't awesome enough, the live performance are amazing. Only bad thing about this song is it's not longer, and we eagerly await the album.

Ok so I wanted to finish off this weeks picks with another awesome song from Swedish House Mafia or Coldplay but I was over-ruled (not that I'm at all bitter). Instead I bring you an equally as awesome song from Foxes. She's an English singer and songwriter who I've been a big fan of for years (Youth, Clarity, Glorious & Better Love amongst favourite songs) and this does not dissapoint. If you've never heard her before, you're missing out big time. We've been happily dancing the afternoon away with this song.

You know how you know a band well even if you don't think you do when you can hear their song/see their video on TV and automatically know who it is? Well hey! Prime example right here. The 1975 are a British band from Cheshire. You have probably heard of them. It's a good song and I'm always interested in a video that tells a story without using flashy gizmo's. I am not a fan of the make-up as I hate anything that reminds me of clowns. But for a cool song and vid I'll let that slide.

For this lovely find I thank my occasional browsing through TV channels. The Chainsmokers are an American DJ duo from New York. Daya is an American singer, songwriter & producer from Pittsburgh. Admittedly the video isn't anything spectacular but I have seen worse, and again for a cool song, it's something I'll let slide.

Red Light Effect are a British band from Salford and are one of the many bands CONTROLRadioUK are playing. Within seconds of hearing this song I put them on the playlist. It has been a decision I have not regretted and I never get tired of hearing this song.

Once upon a time a friend claimed Twlight was awesome & since everyone else was claiming it was awesome as well, I was persuaded to buy the books and watch two of the films. That is a decision I think we can all safely say we regret. Being introduced to Pvris? That is a decision I can proudly say I've enjoyed. They're an American Rock band from Massachusetts who are basically awesome.

Technically they're not together anymore (which I will forever cry about) but summer is fast approaching and with summer comes lots of party anthems. This is one of mine. It's actually a hard task selecting this as I also love One and Axwell Λ Ingrosso new song Dream Bigger. But Greyhound never fails to make me dance. Or bop my head like crazy. Or get bored of. Or ever taken off my phone/computer playlist.

Ria Mae is a Canadian singer who blends pop, alternative & folk. It's a great video, with a nice little twist on the end I did not see coming.

Twenty One Pilots are from Ohio and span various different music genre's. I came across them whilst searching for new music to freshen my MP3 player. I have not regretted that decision.

Walking On Cars are a five peice alternative rock band from Ireland. I came across this song on the radio and I've adored it ever since.

Big Gigantic are an instrumental livetronic, hip-hop, jazz musical group from Colorado. This song doesn't need me to tell you how amazing it is, it does that just fine itself.

Quite simply there's no way I could have not included this song. Hayley Kiyoko is a singer/songwriter/actress from Los Angeles. The song is awesome. Video's even better. Seriously stop reading and click play.
