Madonna Releases New Single "Medellin" Featuring Maluma

The Queen of Pop is reporting for duty!

On the 14th April Madonna began the build-up to her new album and single with a series of teasers posted on social media in the build-up to Medellin's release. The song features Latin American star Maluma, who has until now not translated that success into the U.S market.

Whilst reggaton music is a growing trend that a number of musicians have been hopping onto of late, it's important to note Madonna first explored the sound back in 1986 with “La Isla Bonita” and followed that up with the "Living for Love" music video.

The single is co-produced by Mirwais who has previously worked on Madonna's music with the American Life album, and 'Medellin' is a sultry midtempo track with the "one-two cha-cha-cha" no doubt getting stuck in your head sooner rather than later.

The forthcoming album 'Madame X' is due to be released on the 14th June and you can of course pre-order now. For an opener to a new era, it's not bad going even if it does still leave a little to be desired.

Madonna of course isn't the only artist teasing a new era on the horizon, with Taylor Swift also dropping social media teases that something is dropping on the 26th of this month, and Beyonce dropped her film Homecoming on Netflix this morning.
