Award winning, London based Singer-Songwriter, Mark Mathews, returns in 2019 with his latest single: ‘Down Under Girl’, lifted from the upcoming new EP, ‘Fizzy Beasts’.
Working once again with producer, Andrea Lepori (U2, Jack Savoretti, George the Poet) ‘Down Under Girl’ is not only a love song to a mysterious Aussie girl, but an ode to a country that Mark adores and previously lived in.
Initially starting out as a ‘one man and his guitar’ low-fi folk song, Mark found himself building on the track in the studio and creating, what he calls a Folk-tronica love song – Mixing acoustic, folk sounds and sentiments, with electronic flourishes and colours.
When deciding on a release date for this first single of 2019, Mark could not think of a more appropriate day than that of Australia Day, where millions of Australians celebrate and show love for their country – Which is what ‘Down Under Girl’ is all about.
So, on 26th January 2019, stoke up the barby, grab a cold one and crank up ‘Down Under Girl’.
